Austin started playing lacrosse when he was in second grade. He fell in love with the sport and it became his lifelong dream to play college lacrosse at the highest level. He grew up spending hours every day watching college games and replicating what he saw in his backyard in his hometown of Danville, California. Every summer Austin would go to Matt Ogelsby’s All West camp, and every summer it was the highlight of the summer. Austin still remembers the summer between 4th and 5th grade, the championship game was between his team, and Joe Reid’s team (current teammate at DU). Austin says, “There was always great teaching at the camps, but I remember them most for just being the most fun thing I would do all summer!”

In high school Austin started all 4 years of playing and won NCS (Northern California) twice as a freshman and senior. As a senior, he was named a US Lacrosse All-American and was selected  as EBAL (league) MVP and first team all-league attack. Austin was named to the Adrenaline All-American game, and played in it June before heading to DU. He got his opportunity when Coach Tierney and Coach Brown of the University of Denver recruited him.

Austin is currently living out his dream as a sophomore at DU, and a starting attackman. “I get to play with and against the best players in the nation every day and it is truly something special, ” says Austin.
